Out of the darkness and into the light...

It’s MY Stinkin’ Web Site, Okay
(originally ranted in 1997)

I take criticism better than most people I know. Several people said two entry pages were too much. I agreed and removed them. Some thought the site was difficult to navigate, so I put up text links to help out. Some thought my gallery took too long to load, so I completely altered it. Fonts weren't coming up correctly, so I changed every single one. I welcome all these complaints and observations, and hope that more come in so I can make the site better and more user-friendly. But one thing I'm not going to change is any reference to Jesus, so save your e-mails.

You see, I created this web site. I did. Me. Not you. Now, if that is true, then it would stand to reason that this web site reflects my personal views and beliefs. None of you were surprised when your artwork was not showcased in my galleries, so why would you be surprised when your views are not expressed here?

I don't dig on Marilyn Manson, so he ain't gonna be discussed here. I didn't find the Necronomicon to be an intriguing read, so I'm not gonna endorse it. Nor am I all too impressed with tarot cards, Wicca, crystal energy, psychic hotlines, Runes, yoga, and Scott Baio, so I'm not gonna talk about 'em.

But you'll also note that nowhere on this site did I renounce or pass judgment on any of those things. In fact, on my links page (on a previous version of this site), you'll find a link to Jo's Skydancer. Now, this woman is a phenomenal artist. She also happens to be a Buddhist, and discusses this at length on her site. This, to me, is irrelevant. She is a great artist, and I want people to see her work. When she e-mailed me with suggestions about my site, she never mentioned one thing about my Jesus references. Though we differ in our religious opinions, neither of us passed judgment. This illustrates my point perfectly.

If all you people wandering the Sargasso sea in a Satan tee-shirt are going to profess to be so open-minded, I suggest that you extend that open-mindedness to all religions, including Christianity. If you don't, you're not quite as open as you project yourself as being.

I am a Christian. Before I am an artist, college student, and compulsive shopper, I am a Christian. Some may argue that I am pushing the issue. That was not my intention. I did not put up a Jesus-only web site. It's an art site. Jesus happens to be mentioned a few times. He is mentioned not only so people will know that I think He's the greatest thing since spice racks, but also so people will know that all the glory I get from this site goes straight to Him. If I am expected to give credit to Viewpoint when I use one of their DXFs, then one would think I ought to give credit to the guy who gives me the creativity and drive to make something to put that DXF into.

And if a few simple mentions of Jesus make you squirm enough to send me an e-mail over it, maybe you should look into yourself before you start in on me. Just a suggestion.
